Our Mission

Families walking together with their kids under the 5K Run Walk banner at the Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer 5K, supporting patients served by the American Cancer Society

American Cancer Society Hope Lodge® communities offer a home away from home for people facing cancer and their caregivers when cancer treatment is far away. Our 30+ Hope Lodge communities provide a free place to stay during treatment so people with cancer can focus on getting better. These communities provide comfortable guest suites with private baths, as well as inviting spaces with all the comforts of home, including a communal kitchen, dining area, laundry rooms, and places to gather or find a quiet respite – all at no cost to guests.

Hope Lodge guests don't just find a place to stay – they find a community of support and an emotional connection with others facing the same journey.

Although a majority of our fundraising supports the Philadelphia Hope Lodge, Coaches vs. Cancer is an American Cancer Society program, and we also help fund other programs and services like cutting-edge cancer research, education and prevention, and access to care.

Learn more about the American Cancer Society

The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a nationwide partnership between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. In Philadelphia alone, this program has raised over $20 million since 1996.

"Ten years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Today I'm cancer-free. I started the 5K to support those battling cancer and raise money to find a cure."
